Smoothie recipes come in many flavors. In resetting my eating, I try to eat small meals more often each day. Smoothies with protein have become one of my favorites. Here’s 3 recipes our family likes.
You will need a blender, liquid measuring cup, a smoothie cup to hold 20 ounces. We use Arbonne protein powder made with pea protein (no whey!), but you can use your favorite protein powder. Two scoops (4 tbsp) of Arbonne protein powder is about 160 calories. I also like to add an Arbonne energy fizz stick to mine to add a little bit of tangy flavor.

Margo’s favorite recipe uses dried figs! Begin by soaking figs in hot coffee to soften.
Blend figs, coffee, bananas, avocados, almond butter, cardamom, and vanilla.
Pour this batter into muffin cups (about ¼ cup each). Makes about 24 “muffins”. Freeze.
In the morning put two “muffins” in blender, fill to 12 oz. with water and add protein powder. Blend until smooth.

My chocolate and pineapple smoothies use 2 tbsp non-dairy coconut milk yogurt. I like to add this for texture in the smoothie. You may like more yogurt (watch the calories!), you can use dairy yogurt if you want, or leave it out! My grocery sells the coconut milk yogurt in giant containers, so I use my 2 tbsp scoop to put yogurt in a muffin pan and freeze. I put the little pucks in a freezer plastic storage bag to use for smoothies.
The chocolate smoothie uses a frozen berry medley or cherries and berries medley (if you are limiting sugar in your diet, don’t use cherries). Place water, coconut milk, and non-dairy coconut milk yogurt in the blender. If desired, add Arbonne energy fizz stick, pomegranate or berry.
Add protein powder.
Add crushed ice and frozen berries. Blend until smooth.
Tip: Can be frozen. Thaw in refrigerator (slow) or just leave out (faster). We used Glad or Ziploc freezerware 24 ounces.

The pineapple smoothie uses frozen pineapple chunks. This one is really good if you have aches and pains! Place water, coconut milk, and non-dairy coconut milk yogurt in the blender. If desired, add Arbonne energy fizz stick, citrus.
Add vanilla protein powder.
Add crushed ice and frozen pineapple. Blend until smooth.
Tip: You can use dairy products. You can also add ½ banana, just check your calories!
Make healthy smoothies for satisfying meal replacements. Protein powder adds protein. Berries and other fruits add natural sweetness. Nutricious and delicious.

I bought a nutribullet but only made smoothies for about a month. Shame on me. Thanks for the great recipes.
Hey Clearissa, I’ve never tried the nutribullet. There’s always a trade-off with smoothies because of the clean up, but I find if I buy the supplies every weekend, it means I’m eating healthier all week!
