Hot cocoa mix is such a warm, creamy comfort in the cold months. This recipe was a huge favorite in my college days because you did not have to have fresh milk on hand to make it, just hot water! The addition of coffee creamer gives it an extra bit of decadence. I like having this mix on hand for when I don’t have time to make hot cocoa the “real” way.
You will need a large mixing bowl, a large whisk, measuring cups, airtight storage containers to hold 8 cups or 2 quarts.
Instructions
Measure confectioner’s sugar and add to bowl.
Measure cocoa powder and add to bowl.
Measure dry coffee creamer and add to bowl.
Measure instant dry milk and add to bowl.
Carefully use the whisk to thoroughly stir and break up lumps.
Keep the mix in an airtight container.
Add 8 tablespoons to a mug. Fill cup with hot water and stir. Add marshmallows if desired.
Makes 8 cups mix or 16 servings.
Tips 1. Instant powdered milk at the grocery store seems to change every time I try to buy some. You may have to do some math when buying. For this recipe, you will need enough to make 14 to 16 cups of milk. 2. Use the largest mixing bowl possible, or divide between two bowls. Between the cocoa and the confectioner’s sugar, this is potentially very messy when mixing. 3. I like to put this mix in my coffee mug and then pour coffee on it. Yummy mocha!
