Fearrington Village is in Chatham County North Carolina, north of Pittsboro and south of Chapel Hill. Fearrington has been built on an old farm and includes homes, a village with shops and spa, farm and gardens, and the Relais and Chateaux Fearrington House restaurant and Inn.
The village is near the pasture where the Belted Galloway cows, fainting goats, and Lankenvelder chickens live.
An old barn has been converted to a charming event venue for weddings or conferences. Shops, places to eat, and a spa are arranged in a square.
History of Fearrington Village
McIntyre’s Books is an independent bookstore in Fearrington Village. Spacious and easy to browse, it’s a place you could easily spend a couple hours. The store has a great program of author talks. https://www.fearrington.com/mcintyres-books/
The Goat is open from 11 am to 3 pm. It’s a coffee house, bakery, sandwich shop, and wine bar. It’s got a really nice atmosphere and the baked goods looked amazing. I was checking it out before it closed, knowing I was going to eat a big gourmet dinner, and I wondered if I needed to stock up on goodies for our room for later. https://www.fearrington.com/the-goat/
The Roost is open in the afternoon and early evening as a sort of beer garden with live music. Local beers, wines, and an array of handmade pizzas are served up under the trees. https://www.fearrington.com/roost/
The Fearrington Granary serves lunch, brunch, and dinner in a casual setting. The menus change seasonally and feature appetizers, meats, and seafood. https://www.fearrington.com/granary/
No visit to Fearrington is complete without strolling through the beautiful gardens. There are several lovely spaces that would be great for a wedding. The herb garden was very inspiring to me and of course, adds to the savory flavors in the restaurants.
The Fearrington House Restaurant features a high end, fine dining seasonal menu created by Executive Chef Colin Bedford. A 6-course Chef’s Tasting menu can be chosen by the entire table or you can individually choose 3 or 4 courses from the regular menu. If you’ve wanted to try foods prepared haute cuisine (sous vide, microgreens …) you will see plenty of interesting techniques and ingredients on the menu.
Be prepared to ask questions. We knew we wanted to try the famed Fearrington chocolate soufflé, but it was listed on the menu as Valrhona Coeur de Guanaja. We had no idea that that was a very exclusive chocolate. The restaurant has an amazing wine list and extensive cocktails. https://www.fearrington.com/house/
The Fearrington House Inn has luxurious rooms with fantastic linens, fireplaces, luxurious bathrooms, and port and sweets at bedtime.
A full breakfast is included with your stay. If you like a nice breakfast cocktail during your resort stay, be sure to alert your server up front, it doesn’t seem to be part of their normal service. https://www.fearrington.com/inn/
Let’s talk story
A stay at Fearrington House is a trip to a very luxurious place. We were blessed by receiving this trip as a Christmas present from our children. The service and food were very nice and somewhat formal. You might like Fearrington House if you like a quiet, deluxe getaway in the country with spa and golf course nearby.
