December 29, 2017 by Lisa Grable 2 Comments

The Barefoot Beach Café in Waikiki is a casual oceanside spot different from most restaurants in Waikiki. The café offers Hawaiian plates at a good price nestled outdoors under beautiful hau trees. The Barefoot Beach Café is an open-air restaurant on the beach side of Kapiolani Park in Honolulu. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with live music and weekend buffets. If you are staying in Waikiki, it is easy to walk to the Barefoot Beach Café. From the corner of Kalakaua and Kapahulu Avenue at the entrance to the Honolulu Zoo, walk over to the beach. You will see the Waikiki Wall and a statue honoring the surfers of Waikiki. You can use the walkway or walk on the beach! Be sure to take in the great view of Waikiki behind you.

After 10 or 15 minutes you will arrive at the Barefoot Beach Café. It is an open-air pavilion with tables in various amounts of cover. It is surrounded by large hau trees and is actually in Kapiolani Park.

The café is definitely more than a snack bar. Some great plates are available too. You still have to stand in line and order at the window, but your meal is served on china. Fresh fish and shrimp, Japanese-style salad, meats, and rice make moderately-priced and delicious dinners. The evening atmosphere has the addition of live music.

Fridays and Saturdays are buffet nights with an amazing array of foods. Try the Barefoot Beach Café for good Hawaiian food and the beauty of Queen’s Surf Beach.
